Beginner Board Camp 2022 for U9’s

Our Beginner Board Camp is aimed at U9’s who are new to board paddling. Nippers must be in U9 or older this season to attend. Family membership must be renewed/registered and fees paid.

This 3 day intensive board training program will teach your nippers basic board paddling skills from positioning on the board to popping and rolling, and of course catching waves! Please note this is basic board skills only. If your nipper is already confident on a nipper board, this probably isn’t for them.

Any Bronze or SRC parents who can help as Water Safety are needed, as this will be a large group of beginners! Please bring your orange cap and rashie and sign in on the water safety role. If you can help with water safety, please reply via email so we can gauge numbers. Please pick up a tube or board prior to training each day.

Nippers need to bring to each session:
A foam nipper board – no fiberglass boards please.
A high vis pink rashie and club cap
Goggles for swimming
A labelled water bottle
A wetsuit is highly recommended, especially with this cooler September weather and chance of rain.

What to do for each training session:
Arrive 15 min before start time to get your child signed in and ready on the beach with a waxed board ready to go.
Parents must sign kids in and out for each session.
Parents must stay on the beach – sorry no drop and go. If another adult is responsible for your child please let the coaches know each day.

Schedule:
Friday 9 September 4:30 – 6:00 pm Location: La Balsa (meet near fenced playground)
Saturday 10 September 7:30 – 9:30 am Location: LA BALSA
Sunday 11 September 7:30 – 9:30 am Location: Surf Club
*BBQ to follow at Surf Club
Volunteers needed for the BBQ

As locations are based on ocean conditions, we will send a message through Teamapp with each day’s location. Please make sure you have joined us on Teamapp.

On the last day we will hold a BBQ breaky after the session to celebrate. We do ask for some parent volunteers to set up the BBQ, cook and serve. This is a great way to say thank you to our water safety coaches for running this event for our kids. If you can do this, please let us know. Breaky will be no cost for nippers & coaches (siblings and parents for purchase please).

Any questions please get in touch via Teamapp or email nipperskwslsc@gmail.com
